Lisa Williamson

Born in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois in 1977, she received a BFA from Arizona State University and an MFA from the University of Southern California and has lived and worked in Los Angeles ever since. Her practice centres on sculpture and painting as intertwined disciplines: shaped aluminium wall works and floor sculptures carry hand-painted surfaces that operate simultaneously as painting and as object. Her work is held in the permanent collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Hammer Museum, and the San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art, and she installed a permanent work at the University of Illinois in 2019.
