Lionel Marchetti
Born in Marseille in 1967, he is a composer, improviser, and writer whose work centres on musique concrète. Self-taught at first, he later studied acousmatic art with Xavier Garcia before beginning to compose in the studios of the GRM (Groupe de Recherches Musicales) in Paris in 1992, as well as at the GMVL, La Muse en Circuit, and in his own studio. He performs live on electronics, analogue systems, modified speakers, and REVOX reel-to-reel recorder, and has collaborated extensively with Jérôme Noetinger, Yôko Higashi, and Carole Rieussec. He also writes essays on musique concrète from the perspective of a practising artist.
