Leroy Stevens
New York-based artist whose practice moves between conceptual scores, sound, and installation. His project Favorite Recorded Scream (2008–2009) involved visiting every record store in Manhattan to ask employees to name their favourite scream from recorded music, compiling the responses into a single record. Underground Sculpture (2012–2014) deployed a variable-pitch metal detector to generate auditory topographical maps of buried terrain, turning subsurface material into sound. Recordings made at High Desert Test Sites in Joshua Tree have also shaped his output. Releases appear primarily through Small World Manufacturing.
