Lena Ortega

Mexican sound artist, field recordist, and researcher who holds a PhD in Art History and a Master's degree in Visual Arts from UNAM, where she is a member of the Arte+Ciencia interdisciplinary research group. Also known as Leena Lee, her practice is grounded in soundscape ecology, bioacoustics, and ecoacoustics, examining the resonant relationships between human and non-human animals and their environments. She hosts the radio programme Surfaceless, the skin is not the limit, which promotes active listening and presents work in sound ecology and experimental music. Her research has engaged international forums exploring the intersections of biology, acoustics, and artistic practice.
