Leilehua Lanzilotti

Leilehua Lanzilotti is a Native Hawaiian viola player and composer based in New York. Her practice centres on contemporary and experimental classical music, particularly in the context of music written by and for communities historically excluded from Western concert tradition. She has premiered works by Ted Hearne, Zosha Di Castri, and many others, and her solo album with(in) (2022, Dear Life Records / Nonesuch) is a set of solo viola works by Native Hawaiian, First Nations, and Indigenous composers. She advocates through her practice for widening representation in new music institutions.
