Lee Gamble
Lee Gamble grew up in Birmingham's post-war brutalist estates, cutting his teeth as a teenage jungle DJ on pirate radio before turning to the mechanics of computer music, noise and avant composition. His 2012 breakthrough Diversions 1994-1996, released on PAN, reconstructed the hallucinatory memory of rave through granulated jungle breaks and became a defining electronic record of its decade. He has since released genre-agnostic work for Hyperdub and runs his own label UIQ, founded in 2015. His 2023 album Models, built from AI-generated and synthetic singing voices, was staged live with choreographer Candela Capitán, commissioned by Unsound and Sonar and later presented at the Barbican.
