László Hortobágyi

László Hortobágyi (born 1956) is a Hungarian musician, composer, and ethnomusicologist who has developed a practice integrating traditional music from India, Tibet, and other Asian traditions with electronic processing and composition. Releasing on Doyen and other labels, he has produced a large body of work that approaches world music synthesis from a genuinely deep ethnomusicological foundation, rather than mere stylistic appropriation. His Ananda Shankar Projects and collaborations with Indian classical musicians alongside his electronic compositional output make him an unusual and serious figure in the global music synthesis tradition.
