Lanark Artefax

Lanark Artefax is the alias of Calum MacRae, a producer from Glasgow's Southside whose teenage discovery of Aphex Twin's Drukqs, passed to him by a school friend, redirected him from punk toward electronic music. Steeped in the city's Numbers and LuckyMe nights, he builds intricately engineered, IDM-inflected club tracks that fold granular sound design into techno's structures. His 2017 EP Whities 011, anchored by the acclaimed "Touch Absence," was hailed as one of the year's defining electronic records and drew praise from Aphex Twin and Björk alike. He followed it with Corra Linn on Numbers and, in 2024, the album Metallur, extending his precise, idiosyncratic approach to dance music.
