La Función de Repulsa

Formed in 1986 in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, this Mexican collective built its practice around a deliberately no-style approach, drawing from dadaism, industrial music, noise, punk, improvisation, and electronics without privileging any single strand. Founded as a trio by Juan Antonio Rotuno Espino, Gustavo Hernández, and Luis Alberto Partida, the group expanded to a quintet over the following decades while maintaining its commitment to irreverent, open-ended sound. Releases spanning cassettes, vinyl, and digital editions—including the EP Estético Vacío—document a long-running experiment in collective refusal.
