Kurt Hentschläger
Born in Austria in 1960, he is a New York-based artist whose practice centres on immersive audiovisual environments that push perception to its limits. He co-founded the duo Granular-Synthesis in 1992, working until 2003 on performances combining extreme video processing and high-intensity sound. His solo series—ZEE, FEED, SOL, and SUB—fill gallery spaces with fog, stroboscopic light, and dense audio to induce states of perceptual dissolution. He has exhibited at the Venice Biennale, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, PS1 New York, and ZKM Karlsruhe, and received the Qwartz New Media Art Award in Paris in 2010.
