Kraftwerk

Kraftwerk is a German electronic band formed in Düsseldorf in 1969 by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider. Widely credited as the originators of electronic pop, their work on albums including Autobahn (1974), Radio-Activity (1975), Trans-Europe Express (1977), The Man-Machine (1978), and Computer World (1981) established a musical language of sequenced synthesisers, drum machines, and robotic vocals that became foundational for techno, hip-hop, synth-pop, and electronic music at large. Their stage presence — four figures in matching suits behind banks of electronics — compressed human and machine into a single austere spectacle.
