Korhan Erel
Born in Istanbul in 1973, he is a musician, improviser, and sound designer based in Berlin, where he has lived since 2014. His performance system, Omnibus, uses custom-designed instruments that process concrete sounds, field recordings, and samples in real time via various physical controllers. He is a founding member of Islak Köpek, regarded as the group that initiated the free improvisation scene in Turkey. His collaborative audiovisual work The Threshold, made with Sydney-based video artist Fabian Astore, won the Blake Prize in Australia in 2012.
