Klein

Klein is the alias of Lara Rix-Martin, a London-based producer, vocalist, and artist. Her releases — Frozen (2015), Lagata (2016), Tommy (2017), and CC (2018) — construct fractured, confrontational sound environments from fragmented vocal samples, distorted bass, orchestral elements, and a refusal of conventional sonic hierarchy. Releasing on her own label Haus of Deck, her work engages with Black British experience, technology, and affect through a distinctly unconventional approach to electronic music structure. She has collaborated with Arca, The Hypnotist, and others, and has become an important voice in discussions of the politics of electronic music production.
