Kink Gong

Kink Gong (Laurent Jeanneau) is a French sound artist and ethnomusicologist based in Asia whose extensive recordings of traditional and ritual music across Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, and southern China have produced one of the most remarkable ethnographic and artistic archives in contemporary field recording. His Sublime Frequencies releases and solo recordings combine documentary and artistic approaches in ways that blur the boundaries between ethnomusicology and experimental sound. His commitment to recording musics at risk of disappearing gives his work both artistic and archival significance.
