King Tubby & Riley All Stars

King Tubby (Osbourne Ruddock, 1941–1989) was a Jamaican sound engineer, record producer, and the father of dub music. Working from his home studio in Kingston, he developed the techniques of dub mixing — dropping instruments in and out, adding echo and reverb, isolating bass and drum — that transformed Jamaican music and had a worldwide impact on electronic music production. The Riley All Stars were the house band at the Channel One Studio, providing the rhythm tracks over which Tubby worked. Their collaborations produced definitive dub recordings in the late 1970s.
