Khampagar Orchestra
Khampagar Monastery is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery founded in Tashi Jong, Himachal Pradesh, India, by Khamtrul Rinpoche following the Tibetan diaspora after 1959. The monastery's ritual orchestra performs ceremonial music — long trumpets, oboe, drums, cymbals, and chanting — integral to Buddhist ritual and meditation practice. Recordings of these ceremonies document a tradition preserved in exile and represent a significant corpus of Himalayan Buddhist ritual music. Sublime Frequencies and other ethnographic labels have documented related Tibetan monastic music traditions.
