Katie Paterson
Born in Glasgow in 1981, she studied at Edinburgh College of Art and completed an MFA at the Slade School of Fine Art in 2007. Her graduation work Vatnajökull (the sound of) connected a submerged microphone under Europe's largest glacier to a public telephone number, allowing anyone to hear the glacier melting in real time. In 2014 she launched Future Library, a 100-year artwork in Oslo in which one author per year submits a manuscript to be printed and read only in 2114, with contributors including Margaret Atwood and Han Kang. She is based in Fife, Scotland.
