Karl Salzmann
Karl Salzmann is a sound and media artist born in Bludenz, Austria and based in Vienna. His practice moves across performance, installation, and conceptual art, with a sustained focus on the materiality of sound and the turntable as a research apparatus. He explores site-specific conditions, historical resonance, and the social implications of noise. His plaster record Bruchstücke (Moozak, 2021) — handmade in an edition of 20, intentionally shattered in transit — encapsulates his approach to process and fragility. He received the Austrian State Scholarship for Media Art in 2019 and holds a doctorate in Artistic Research from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
