Kaoganai

A Japanese industrial duo formed by Asfj, who handles voice, composition, and sampler, and Kai, who plays metal percussion. Their live performances are built around scattering tons of scrap steel and tools, recreating the inorganic sounds of factories and automobiles in a practice that recalls early industrial music. The group has built a following across genres and generations both in Japan and internationally. Their 2023 release Sample, issued on VLZ Produkt, presents their distinctive blend of junk noise, sampler manipulation, and confrontational performance energy.
