Kader Attia
Kader Attia is a French-Algerian artist born in 1970 in Dugny, France, raised between the Paris suburbs, Algeria and Congo. Trained at the École Duperré, La Massana in Barcelona and the ENSAD in Paris, he moved from early photography into sculpture, installation and collage. His work circles around the concept of repair, tracing how mending exposes the enduring wounds of colonialism across bodies, architecture and belief systems, linking Western and non-Western epistemologies. In 2016 he founded La Colonie, an independent Paris space for exchange, and later curated the 12th Berlin Biennale. He won the Prix Marcel Duchamp in 2016 and the Joan Miró Prize in 2018.
