Kabir Carter

An American sound artist and MFA graduate of Bard College's Milton Avery School, his practice spans performance, installation, and writing. His ongoing project Underperformances investigates architectural acoustics through the interaction of microphone, mixer, loudspeakers, and his own body within resonant rooms. Drawing on research in anechoic chambers and underwater acoustics, his work traces spatial intensities flowing between humans, nonhumans, and built structures. His work has been presented at the Studio Museum in Harlem, HKW Berlin, ISSUE Project Room Brooklyn, and Inter Arts Center Malmö.
