Julian Oliver
Julian Oliver is a New Zealand-born critical engineer, artist, and activist who has been based in Europe since 1997, working across Australia, Sweden, Spain, Denmark, and Germany. He co-authored the Critical Engineering Manifesto and is a member of the Critical Engineering Working Group, whose practice interrogates technology as a site of political and social power. His project Newstweek, made with Daniil Vasiliev, received the Golden Nica at Prix Ars Electronica 2011. His work has been shown at Transmediale, Ars Electronica, the Vienna Biennale, Tate Modern, and the Japan Media Arts Festival. He co-directs Nīkau, a security consultancy for NGOs.
