Julian Kamphausen

Berlin-based dramaturg, curator and director working across independent and municipal theatre since the mid-1990s, with stints at Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus, Volksbühne, Berliner Ensemble and Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg before going independent in 2003. From 2013 to 2017 he ran the annual Branchentreff der freien darstellenden Künste, growing it into Germany's largest gathering for independent performing arts. With Alexandra Wolf he conceived Performersion, pairing performers with technologists and civil-society actors, and he co-directed Hamburg's Hauptsache Frei Festival from 2018 to 2020, working at the intersection of stagecraft, activism and format design.
