Joshua Bonnetta

Born in 1979, this Canadian artist works across sound and analogue film in installation, performance, and theatrical exhibition. His film El Mar La Mar, co-directed with J.P. Sniadecki, won the Caligari Film Prize at the Berlin Film Festival in 2017 and entered the permanent collection of MoMA. His 2020 documentary The Two Sights, made in the Scottish Hebrides, won the Best Sound Award at Cinéma du Réel in Paris and premiered at the Berlinale. His four-disc audio work The Pines documents a full year of field recordings from a single pine tree in upstate New York, distilled into seasonal portraits.
