Josef Anton Riedl
Josef Anton Riedl (1927–2011) was a German composer, conductor, and electronic music pioneer born in Munich. He was a central figure in the German avant-garde of the postwar period, working with electronic music at the Studio for Electronic Music in Munich and organising the legendary Ars Electronica-adjacent festivals. He collaborated with John Cage, Nam June Paik, and figures of the European avant-garde throughout the 1960s and 1970s. His compositions bridge serial technique, electronic processing, and the Fluxus-adjacent performance culture of German avant-garde institutions. His work is documented on Wergo and other European labels.
