José Vicente Asuar

Chilean composer and acoustic engineer (20 July 1933 – 11 January 2017) who was among the first in Latin America to compose fully electronic music, with his 1959 Variaciones Espectrales considered the earliest exclusively electronic Chilean work. In 1978 he completed the COMDASUAR, a custom digital-analogue computer he designed independently for music creation, making him an absolute pioneer in computer music. He was a professor of acoustics and electroacoustics at the University of Chile and founded the Sound Technology degree there in 1969, shaping generations of electroacoustic composers.
