Jose Luis Castillo
Spanish conductor and composer born in Valencia who has been based in Mexico since 1997. He studied in Spain before specialising in twentieth-century repertoire in Salzburg, Luxembourg, and Paris, and is now regarded as one of the leading promoters of contemporary music in Mexico. He has served as artistic director of the Guanajuato Symphony Orchestra and director of the Camerata de las Américas, and conducts the Cepromusic Ensemble at the National Institute of Fine Arts. He has led more than seventy orchestras across twenty-five countries and recorded fifteen albums.
