Jörg Piringer

Jörg Piringer (b. 1974, Austria) is a Vienna-based sound poet, programmer and performer who studied computer science before turning code into a poetic instrument. A member of the Institute for Transacoustic Research and the Vegetable Orchestra, he builds custom software and generative systems that twist predictive text, spam filters and speech synthesis into playful, abstract sound poetry. His performances combine live-coded visuals with vocal and electronic sound poems rooted in the concrete poetry tradition. In 2015 he received Austria's Outstanding Artist Award for media art, and his work continues to circulate through festivals, galleries and literary contexts worldwide.
