Jordi Valls
Catalan performer, visual artist, and audio artist who began working in the early 1980s under the name Vagina Dentata Organ, a project rooted in post-punk provocation and audible found objects. He spent decades living in London before returning to Barcelona in 2008. His recordings draw on field recordings of extreme events and social rituals, including an audio document of the final hours of Jim Jones's People's Temple in Guyana in 1978. In recent years he has shifted toward painting, producing portraits using his own blood. His work was the subject of a feature in The Brooklyn Rail.
