Jon Rose
Jon Rose (born 1951) is an Australian violinist, composer, and media artist based in Berlin. One of the most radical practitioners of extended violin technique since the 1970s, he has developed the instrument through preparations, homemade violins, network performances, and interactive systems. His Relative Violin projects — large-scale installations using fences, trees, and architectural structures as instruments — extend the violin into site-specific and political territory. He has collaborated with Derek Bailey, Fred Frith, and John Zorn, and has documented his practice extensively on Victo, Hat Art, and his own Relative Pitch imprint.
