John Richards

British musician and composer born in 1966 who coined the term "dirty electronics" to describe an approach to electronic music that rejects corporate technology in favour of DIY construction, found objects, and physical interaction. He studied at Dartington College of Arts and completed a PhD in electroacoustic music at the University of York in 2002. In 2003 he founded the Dirty Electronics Ensemble, a large collaborative group whose performances are inseparable from the act of making instruments.
