Born in 1979, he studied at RMIT in Melbourne before moving to London to study sound art at London College of Communication under David Toop and Cathy Lane. Relocating to Brisbane in 2004, he co-founded OtherFilm with Sally Golding and Danni Zuvela, a curatorial project investigating film and moving image art. In 2013 he returned to Melbourne and became Artistic Director of Liquid Architecture, Australia's leading sonic art organisation, a post he held until 2022. That same year he co-founded Machine Listening with Sean Dockray and James Parker, a research platform examining the politics of computational sound.
