Joe Colley

Joe Colley is an American noise artist and musician based in Oakland whose work explores the extreme possibilities of analogue electronics and tape manipulation. His solo recordings — on Agents of Chaos and other labels — use highly processed, dense, and often excruciating sound to create environments of maximum intensity. He has performed extensively in North American underground contexts and has collaborated with other experimental musicians. His practice is grounded in a commitment to the analogue, the physical, and the uncontrolled, treating noise as a medium of genuine emotional and physical intensity.
