Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige

Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige are a Lebanese artist and filmmaker duo, born in Beirut in 1969, partners since the early 1990s. Calling themselves "chercheurs," they work across feature and documentary film, photography, installation and performance-lectures. Their films include The Lebanese Rocket Society, Je veux voir with Catherine Deneuve, and Memory Box. Preoccupied with traces of the invisible and unofficial, they excavate forgotten archives, wartime documents and geological cores beneath cities. They won the Marcel Duchamp Prize in 2017 for Unconformities and co-founded Beirut's Metropolis Cinema and Abbout Productions.
