Jo Grys

Jo Grys (b. 1963, Essen) is a Berlin-based artist working in electronics, video and performance under the alias FRGMNT. Trained in chemistry, philosophy and mineralogy at Justus-Liebig-University Gießen, he turned to art using scientific approaches to investigate noise, error and feedback as creative material.

Since 2002 Grys has performed with noisiV, built around self-made electronics and live video manipulation, and with TOB, using radio transmitters and homemade circuitry as instruments. He has also performed solo as FRGMNT since 2008, building electronic installations and leading workshops internationally at venues including transmediale, CTM and V2's DEAF festival.
