JJJJJerome Ellis

JJJJJerome Ellis (born 1989) is an American musician, writer, and interdisciplinary artist based in New York. A flautist, singer, and sound artist with a stutter, Ellis has developed a practice that makes his stutter central to performance and composition, treating disfluency as an aesthetic and political condition rather than an obstacle. His records Elia (2020) and The Clearing (2021) combine field recordings, prayer, spoken text, and improvised music into long-form pieces that are simultaneously intimate and architecturally monumental. He is widely recognised as one of the most original artists to emerge in American experimental music in recent years.
