Jim Jarmusch

Jim Jarmusch, the American filmmaker behind Stranger Than Paradise, Dead Man, and Only Lovers Left Alive, is also an active musician. In 2009 he began recording with drummer Carter Logan and engineer Shane Stoneback to score The Limits of Control, releasing early material as Bad Rabbit before settling on the name Sqürl. Describing themselves as "an enthusiastically marginal rock band" partial to distorted guitars, tape loops, feedback, and imaginary movie scores, Sqürl work through slow-motion psychedelia and drone. The band scored several Jarmusch films and released the studio album Silver Haze in 2023, featuring Charlotte Gainsbourg and Marc Ribot.
