Jessica Rylan

Born in 1974 in Boston, Massachusetts, she received an MFA in electronic music from Bard College in 2003 and later a BS in electrical engineering from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, subsequently pursuing a PhD in electrical engineering at Stanford. She is best known for designing and building her own modular synthesizers, which she then performs with alongside her voice. In 2006 she founded Flower Electronics, producing limited editions of her instruments including the Personal Synth and the Natural Synth. She performs solo and as the noise project Can't, with recordings on her own IRFP label and on Important Records and Drop of Blood Records.
