Jean Jacques Perrey
Jean Jacques Perrey (1929–2016) was a French musician and electronic music pioneer whose recordings helped define the sound of early synthesiser and Moog-based music. Trained as a classical accordionist, he encountered the Ondioline — an early electronic keyboard — in the late 1940s and developed an approach to electronic performance both technically innovative and irrepressibly playful. His collaborations with Gershon Kingsley, The In Sound from Way Out! (1966) and Kaleidoscopic Vibrations (1967), established a template for melodically inventive Moog music later sampled across hip-hop and pop. His solo album Moog Indigo (1970) became a cult favourite. He died in Switzerland in 2016.
