JD Zazie

An Italian sound artist and avant-garde turntablist living between Berlin and Bolzano, she comes from a DJ and radiophonic background and has developed a practice that stretches the borders between DJ mixing, free improvisation, and composed music. She uses CDJs, turntables, and a mixer to work with sources drawn from electroacoustic music, musique concrète, and field recordings. She is art director of MuseRuole, a festival focused on women in experimental music, and broadcasts regularly on Colaboradio and Reboot.fm. Her composition Memory Loss explores electromagnetic sound from hard drives and corrupted audio data.
