Jani Christou
Jani Christou (1926–1970) was a Greek composer whose brief career produced some of the most unusual and psychologically intense music of the post-war period. Influenced by C.G. Jung and ancient Greek ritual, his Praxis for 12 (1966) and Enantiodromia (1968) combined orchestral music with theatrical action, ritual elements, and psychological drama in ways that anticipated music theater. He died in a car accident at 43, leaving a small but remarkable body of work that has been periodically rediscovered by those interested in the intersection of music, drama, and psychology.
