Jane Pain

Jane Pain is the alias of Jane Chardiet, a New York-based noise musician, 35mm photographer, and writer. A second-generation punk — both of her parents were punk — she found her way into noise through Pissed Jeans, attending a noise show that felt like a revelation. Her path from punk bands through increasingly strange keyboards and electronics to solo noise performance was gradual and deliberate: learning gear in collaborative contexts before performing alone as Jane Pain. She plays vocals and electronics in the tech-noise duo Appetite (with Ciarra Black), and vocals in the LA-based project Safe Word. Her solo noise project performs under the alias NYDN.
