Jane Chardiet

Working under the alias Jane Pain, she is a New York-based photographer, writer, and musician who documents the present through the lens of her own life. A second-generation punk rooted in the city’s underground, she moved from playing in punk bands to keyboards in noise ensembles before settling into solo electronics. She is one half of Appetite, a power electronics and noise project, and has published the zine High On Hunger, combining personal essays, photography, and interviews with artists. Her 35mm photography is consistently visceral, alternating between the disturbing and the darkly intimate.
