Jan St. Werner

Jan St. Werner (b. 1969) is a German electronic musician, one half of Mouse on Mars alongside Andi Toma, and an extensive solo practitioner. Mouse on Mars, formed in Düsseldorf in 1993, developed a distinctive electronic music combining the rhythmic structures of techno and drum and bass with experimental composition and a playful approach to genre. Albums including Iaora Tahiti (1995) and Niun Niggung (1999) established them as central figures in European electronic music. Werner's solo work, released under the Fiepblatter Catalogue imprint, extends this practice into more radical territory, exploring modular and granular synthesis, spectral composition, and feedback.
