Ivo Malec
Ivo Malec (1925–2019) was a Croatian-French composer and a central figure at the GRM in Paris. Moving to Paris in 1959, he became closely associated with Pierre Schaeffer's musique concrète movement while also maintaining a significant output as an orchestral and chamber composer. His electroacoustic works — including Cantate pour elle (1966) and Arco (1969) — balance the abstract procedures of musique concrète with a lyricism rooted in his Central European musical formation. He taught composition for many years at the Paris Conservatoire and was a formative influence on several generations of French electroacoustic composers.
