Israel Martinez

Born in Guadalajara in 1979, Israel Martínez is an artist who works across sound, video, photography, installation, and public intervention with a sustained focus on social and political reflection. Active in Mexico's underground music press since the mid-1990s, he trained in electronic music and sound art at the Centro Mexicano para la Música y las Artes Sonoras. His composition Mi Vida received an Award of Distinction in the Digital Musics category of Prix Ars Electronica 2007. His work has been presented at MACBA, MUAC, the Moscow Biennial, and daadgalerie, and is released internationally on labels including Sub Rosa and Abolipop.
