Dagmar Krause
Dagmar Krause (born 1950) is a German singer who was a member of Slapp Happy alongside Peter Blegvad and Anthony Moore, and later a pivotal figure in Henry Cow's vocal practice. Her voice — capable of moving between cabaret theatricality, folk directness, and fierce political commitment — was central to the union of Slapp Happy and Henry Cow in the mid-1970s, as heard on In Praise of Learning (1975). She has subsequently recorded albums of Hanns Eisler and Kurt Weill settings and collaborated with a wide range of musicians in the European avant-garde. Her command of the German cabaret and Brechtian tradition gives her work a distinctive historical depth.
