İlhan Mimaroğlu
İlhan Mimaroğlu (1926–2012) was a Turkish-American composer and producer based in New York. Trained as an architect in Istanbul and later in musicology at Columbia University, he became a central figure at Atlantic Records, where he produced jazz albums by Charles Mingus, Ornette Coleman, and others while pursuing an independent career in electroacoustic and tape music. His own compositions — released on the Atlantic imprint Finnadar — combined musique concrète, electronic processing, and literary or political texts, frequently engaging Turkish and American political contexts. He collaborated with Jean Dubuffet on the sound work Dhôtel nuancé d'abricot (1974).
