Hypertrophy

Hypertrophy is the conceptual noise project of Anthony Saunders, a longtime member of Bastard Noise, E.I.D. and Dataclast, launched in 2019 as a successor to E.I.D.'s decades-long run. An avid powerlifter, Saunders built the project around the idea that strength sports and harsh noise share the same single-minded drive to exceed what outsiders consider healthy limits. His technical, cut-up approach has produced releases like Fitness Is..., which remixes field recordings taken inside Planet Fitness gyms, Sarcoplasmic/Myofibrillar, and a 2024 tour split with Flesh Shuddering. Live sets have incorporated actual weightlifting into the performance.
