Horacio Vaggione
Born in Córdoba, Argentina in 1943, Vaggione co-founded the Experimental Music Center at the National University of Córdoba in 1965 before leaving for Europe in 1969. He worked at electroacoustic studios in Madrid, then in Paris at GRM, IRCAM, and IMEB, receiving a doctorate from the University of Paris VIII in 1983. From 1989 he taught at Paris VIII, directing the Centre de recherche informatique et création musicale (CICM) and becoming Professor Emeritus in 2012. His compositions for performers and computers explore micromontage, granular synthesis, and microsound. Awards include the Euphonie d'Or at Bourges and the International Computer Music Association award, both 1992.
